What kind of dispute is this?

If you're not sure, pick the closest match — you can refine later.

How the case summary builder works

    1. Step 1

      Walk through 6 prompts

Answer one short question per step — dispute type, what happened, the other party, your goal, your evidence, and key dates.

    2. Step 2

      Get a structured summary

The builder turns your answers into a clean, copy-pasteable summary organized the way attorneys prefer to read intake notes.

    3. Step 3

      Take it to a consultation

Print, copy, or save the summary to share with an attorney — or use it as the starting point for an attorney-reviewed matter.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the case summary builder free?

Yes. The builder is free, requires no account, and runs entirely in your browser. Your work is saved only on your device until you choose to clear it.

Does using the builder create an attorney-client relationship?

No. The builder is for general organization and preparation only. xCounsel is not your attorney unless you have entered into an engagement through the platform.

Are my answers sent to xCounsel or anyone else?

No. The builder does not send your answers to xCounsel servers, to any database, or to any third party. The work stays on this device. Categorical analytics (e.g., which step you completed) carry no answer text.

How long does the builder take?

Most users finish in 5–10 minutes. The builder asks one focused question per step, with optional 'Why we ask this' notes if you want context before answering.

Can I share or print the summary I build?

Yes. The result page includes Copy and Print buttons. The summary is plain text, ready to paste into an email or attach to a consultation request.

What if I get interrupted partway through?

Your progress saves automatically to this device. When you come back, you can resume where you left off or clear your saved work and start over.
